Parenting and caring for a child with acute behavioral issues can be, at the very least, frustrating and exhausting.  And it is not uncommon for those behaviors to dominate family dynamics, resulting in a chaotic home.  While the situation may at times seem hopeless, it does not need to be.  With assistance and support, parents can learn how to communicate with each other and their children in ways that realign relationships, strengthen trust, and restore peace within the family.

Jaci Finneman is an experienced parent strategist and coach who specializes in assisting and supporting families that are struggling with behavioral issues.  It IS possible for a child and their family to correct disruptive behaviors, giving parents renewed confidence and decreasing their fears and worries about their child.

With decades of experience in resolving disruptive children’s behaviors, Jaci has a keen ability to identify core relationship patterns and the interventions needed to correct them.  Her rich and broad background includes working with children with developmental disabilities, physical and emotional needs, and children with a Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD) diagnosis.

Using a flexible array of services, Jaci tailors her support to best meet the needs of the family and others who work with children.  These services include 1:1 consultation, group coaching, webinars, classes and virtual presentations.

In addition to her deep knowledge and expertise in behaviors of children and family dynamics, Jaci’s kind, positive and creative personality adds light, hope and clarity to the process.  She offers respectful guidance and insight as she walks alongside parents on their parenting journey.

If you are struggling with a disruptive child, Jaci would love to have a conversation with you about how her services can help you restore confidence, loving relationships and a peaceful home.

Parents of an adopted daughter and pre-adoptive daughter - No-Problem Parents in Forest Lake, MN

“Our family was in the process of adopting a four-year-old through a county program and we desperately needed help meeting the emotional needs of our other child. Jaci came alongside us, entered our day-to-day life activity, affirmed what we were doing right and helped us find solutions. Jaci was never judgmental and didn’t push her agenda. She asked tough questions in a way that was non-threatening and led to a new way of thinking. She understands the situation before making suggestions or giving instruction. As she worked with our children, it was obvious that Jaci has a unique way of connecting with them. She got down on the ground and sat by them, changed her tone, looked them in the eye and made sure they knew she was all about them at that moment. She asked questions that drew out their inner thoughts. Our situation was tougher than most but Jaci did not overreact to what was shared, allowing us to be very honest. She affirmed our feelings about our kids and made us feel comfortable to share our painful experiences. Each day brought its own challenges. Even when some sessions appeared unprofitable, Jaci was quick to point out what was accomplished and how to keep moving forward toward healing. Jaci’s process involves parents making changes as much as helping the child grow and heal.”

Are you planning your next in-service training for your staff?  Would you like (up to) 25 hours of training that includes live training as well as observations and role modeling of the techniques by the instructor?

The Intensive Becoming a No-Problem Parent/Provider and Follow-Up quarterly training includes up to 25 hours of

in-person instruction, observation, role modeling, and consultation.

Here are some of the benefits your center will gain from the training:

  • Three - 2-hour staff development trainings.  During the first hour of each training, your staff will learn the 3 steps to Becoming a No-Problem Parent/Teacher.  The second hour is dedicated to answering questions and providing strategies for specific behaviors.
  • Training is tailored to the needs of your childcare staff. This training is most likely not what you have experienced in past training.  Jaci will listen to the real-life struggles your teachers are experiencing with the kiddos they are responsible for and strategize actual ways of responding to the behaviors.  This is an excellent opportunity to address your center's needs and gaps.
  • Training can be held for ALL staff after center hours in 2-hour blocks.  You provide a meal for your staff, and Jaci will provide energizing training.  If after-hour training for all staff is not ideal, Jaci will work with the Owner/Director to accommodate smaller groups with cross-training in mind.
  • After the first two training are complete, Jaci will set up separate, concurrent training sessions specifically for Infants/Toddlers/preschool and Pre-K Teachers.  The all-staff training will offer education that ALL teachers can benefit from.  Often infant/toddler teachers have a valid complaint when they say that they sat through training and nothing applied to them. Not Jaci’s training; the information she provides will give all staff a new perspective on behaviors from infants to Pre-K!
  • Certificates for staff participation with the total number of hours they individually participated in are presented at the final two-hour summary training.  When your staff has invested in learning the new techniques, Jaci wants to be sure they are acknowledged for their time and efforts.
  • In-the-moment observations allow your staff to feel supported while they are implementing the new strategies.
  • Role modeling allows Jaci to show in real-time how a No-Problem Parent/Teacher responds to misbehavior rather than just telling the teachers how she does it.
  • Training setup is easy and can be held right at your center.  No need to rent a space for the training.  Jaci prefers to be at your center for the training to see the space and understand any challenges or barriers the teachers need to work with.
  • Handouts and ideas for posters that support staff and help the kiddos can be created to reinforce concepts and assist in the continuing assimilation of information.
  • Related articles may be shared to supplement training based on the specific needs of your center.
  • Teachers can submit questions to their Owner/Director beforehand, encouraging participation and discussion. By soliciting comments and feedback and involving the staff, Jaci can better assess if the training meets their needs and/or which topics to spend more time and attention on.
  • Jaci is an extrovert, and her training is positive and upbeat.  That said, she doesn’t expect all attendees to be as upbeat and positive and understands that we all have learning preferences.  Staff can submit questions ahead of time and/or after the training. She will not call on people to participate that aren’t comfortable doing so.
  • Training and staff meetings are generally two different things. Jaci is truly providing training; please keep "housekeeping" things and announcements to 5 minutes. If there are specific needs/issues involving only a couple of employees, Jaci asks that you let her know beforehand and/or that you deal with those at another time. She is happy to help navigate any difficult conversations you may need to have with a staff member.
  • Give staff ample notice and/or consider having training on the same night. There will be three 2-hour evening training spread out over 6 weeks.  Share your excitement of being able to offer your staff some real-life solutions to the day-to-day behavior ups and downs they experience.  Let them know how much you value them, and that’s why you have invested in this type of training.  It is suggested that attendance is mandatory so you may want to prepare to help your staff make it to the training.  (ie, provide childcare, dinner, etc.)
  • Request that your staff provide feedback about their take-aways after each training and each on-site visit from Jaci.  Share the feedback with all staff for added learning. People remember information longer when associated with personal examples and each other’s experiences.

“Thank You Jaci ~ I appreciate our conversation more than I can express! I can't wait to check out the videos :) I love additional tips/tricks to help me on this journey, especially with these two because nothing ever works the same with both of them. I have a meeting with most of their teachers tonight and I was able to put together some good notes and suggestions to give them from our conversation. You really did help ease my mind from the lack of control I was feeling!”

“We have come a long way since our last court hearing. We continue to learn new things and practice them every session with Jaci. We feel so much more confident, relaxed, and supported. She is wonderful. Thank you again for continuing services with her. We do not feel we could be making as much progress as we are without her. She really understands what it is like to parent kiddos with severe trauma and RAD and has a way of helping us see our challenges and work on change without making us feel bad about ourselves. She validates our feelings and even explains why things were the way they were in a way that is not blaming. It has given us such relief and makes us want to work harder at being better parents. She has given us back our hope. She doesn't tear us apart or look for problems or make problems bigger than they are. That is her whole program, "No Problem Parenting" you address a problem, deal with it and overcome it. She's not saying we won't ever have problems, she teaches us to find solutions and prepares us to handle whatever comes our way.”

“Jaci is very empowering. She doesn't make assumptions or try to tell us how we feel. She asks us, and she listens. She identifies, validates, explains, and helps us move forward. She is truly amazing. She is also really helping us grow closer as a couple. Jaci has identified the stressors that raising kiddos with such extensive special needs can put on a marriage and is helping us navigate through those stressors so that we can keep building a stronger marriage and be the best parents we can be, and the best partners we can be to each other. We have heard from many sources that parenting kids like ours is often such a stress on marriage that 90% of them end in divorce. Even our parental capacity assessor told us that. Working together with Jaci and our individual therapists, our marriage has never been stronger.”
